Director of Maternal / Child - Florida

MedCore Talent has been selected by a well respected, not-for-profit acute care hospital client to screen and recruit the right person for a Director of Women's Services position. This position is a full-time, direct hire position with excellent benefits and a very competitive salary.
The Director assumes responsibility for continuing operations on a twenty-four hour, seven day per week basis.
  • Ensures that appropriate Senior is informed of issues within assigned departments; reporting Managers and staff are fully informed on organization issues and developments; and that other divisions or departments are informed of changes that originate within assigned departments which may impact them.
  • Develop processes and solicit feedback that encourages two-way communication between staff, management and Vice President/CNO level.
  • Initiates and leads departmental and cross-functional changes.
  • Applies information on "best practices", eliminates barriers and gains organization support.
  • Supports and participates in organization-wide efforts to promote and utilize system thinking rather than divisional or departmental based thinking.
  • Makes decisions based on documented facts and findings to explain outcomes.
  • Orders all new instruments and equipment for the department in conjunction with the Supplies Manager. Contacts and speaks with salesmen when necessary.
  • Confers with Nursing Coordinators and assists with problem solving, interpretation of policies/procedures and assists with the determination of appropriate disciplinary actions.
  • Attends nursing, hospital and medical staff meetings as requested and reports agenda discussions, recommendation, and approvals to the Vice President/CNO.
  • Coordinates ordinates activities with other hospital departments and physicians, promoting and maintaining professional relations.
  • Assumes the Vice President/CNO responsibilities in his/her absence when requested.
  • Maintains an awareness of community standards for hospital procedures and policies communicates same to the Vice President/CNO.
  • Identifies requirements of and ensures compliance with the standards set by JCAHO, OSHA and all other state, federal and regulatory agencies. Maintains updated skills and licensure via continuing education programs.
  • Expediently informs the Vice President/CNO of pertinent events and problems related to patient care, personnel, medical staff, interdepartmental relationships or emergency situations.
  • Performs other management and/or professional duties as requires.
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Evaluate and coordinate services and care across the continuum.
  • Collaborate with appropriate hospital services and departments.
  • Ensure that quality patient care is delivered on a continuous basis through utilization of appropriate resources, staff, equipment, and within budget.
Position Requirements:
  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing, Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing.   BLS, ACLS, NRP Fetal monitoring certification.
  • Preferred: Masters Degree in Nursing
Minimum Experience:
  • Five (5) years nursing experience
  • One (1) year management experience
  • Strong customer service skills and current, progressive clinical practice experience required.
