Business Development Executive
Job Purpose:
Responsible for sourcing, negotiating and acquiring independent veterinary practices to increase the existing corporate network and growth potential that is aligned to the strategic objective and core capabilities of the organization. 
Principal Responsibilities: 
  • Develop pipeline to source and acquire independent veterinary practices, across assigned territory.
  • Evaluate and outline competition by assessing market demographics, growth (retail and residential areas), and market potential.
  • Network and establish relationships with key industry contacts who may be able to provide referral opportunities for acquisitions.
  • Liaise with EVP Business Development on potential acquisition targets (i.e. opportunities for relocations, purchases and consolidations).
  • Negotiate and follow-up with all Purchase Agreements to ensure that key terms, provisions and documentation requirements are negotiated.
  • Assist with the coordination of legal review, management approval and the expediting execution of offers.
  • Maintain excellent relationship with practice owners throughout acquisition process.  Act as organization’s key relationship partner with practice owners.
  • Arrange Executive tour of acquisition and prepare PowerPoint presentation of Acquisition for approval by executive management (as required)
  • Collaborate with various departments and levels including, EVP Business Development, Operations, Finance, and M&A to track acquisition status (i.e. maintain an updated list of acquisitions and maintain weekly report to be circulated all relevant participants), due diligence dates, date of lease agreement, closing date and date of notification to vendor/employee & all other business matters.
  • Ensure all deals and active leads are kept current in CRM database and deal tracking database.
Required Skills
  • University degree in a business discipline preferred
  • 5+ years demonstrated experience in technical sales role; acquisitions experience preferred
  • Decision making and negotiation skills
  • Strong knowledge of acquisition principles, procedures and procurement.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Highly developed presentation skills, with experience in presenting to executive level staff.
  • Excellent computer skills, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Highly organized and able to effectively build relationships.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently; self-starter.
